learn from the mistake??

August 16th, 2009 by cikgu shima No comments »

When we attend any motivation talk, every body said to us.. learn from our mistake, will make we success more.. its that really true?
According to the research done actually the more right things we do, the better our brain functioning and tuning to perfection… here i extracted from article written by Rachael Rettner, LiveScience Staff:

>>> The research, done on monkeys, suggests that the brain neurons involved in learning may process information more effectively after a success than after a failure, which in turn leads to an improvement in behavior.

>>>The researchers monitored neurons in the monkey’s prefrontal cortex and the basal ganglia – two areas of the brain thought to be involved in learning. They found that neurons in these brain areas are indeed important for learning – they “keep track of recent successes and failures,” said Earl K. Miller, a researcher at MIT’s Picower Institute for Learning and Memory.

>>>But what surprised the researchers was that these neurons actually became more “finely tuned” after a correct response than after an incorrect response, meaning that the neurons were able to better distinguish between the two different associations that the monkey was learning.

>>>“The neurons in these areas improve their tuning, they learn better when the animal had a recent success, versus when the animal had a failure,” Miller said. “When the animal had a failure, there was virtually no change in neural processing, the neurons didn’t improve at all.”

>>>In practical terms, after a success the monkeys were more likely to get an answer correct on the next trial, indicating a link between the improved neuron activity and the animal’s behavior.

So, better prepare to sit before your exam and answer all right and let your brain ‘grow‘ than keep on doing mistake and your brain become ‘smaller‘….

H1N1 – kenapa tak peka?

August 15th, 2009 by cikgu shima No comments »

Today, i am teacher on duty..so just entered the staffroom Cikgu Fazilah told me to sent a girl to Putrajaya clinic for followed up appointment. After having breakfast (provided because a workshop on school safety), i with two practical teachers ( new experience for them) took the girl with my Gen 2 to clinic. with the mask on our face we entered the clinic ( of course i dont like wearing it but i must … i am in the high risk category .. i am in ‘montel group’ and matured).
What really surprised me, all the medical staff wearing the mask, but the patients waiting in the lobby, only 20% wore it. Clinic is one of the hot spot for virus! A mother and father wearing mask but the baby in their arms is not!, Small boy coughing and not wearing any mask. Sick man with wife beside him him also didnt. While waiting for the girl turn, we just sat at the corner with the mask on, whispering at each other about how people did not PEKA about it.
No wonder the death toll increasing…..

Seri Puteri di landa selsema biasa ker H1N1?

August 13th, 2009 by cikgu shima 1 comment »

Ramai murid yang kene selsema kat sekolah, lebih 30 orang telah dibawa balik oleh ibubapa masing-masing, tiada seorang pun dikesan mengidap H1N1.. Alhamdulilah..

Tapi kenapa ramai sangat yang selsema?
Ramai sangat yang demam dan batuk?

Selsema biasa pun menyusahkan hidup…. jadi ambil la langkah berjaga-jaga

1. Tak perlu bersalam dan cium tangan lepas kelas, cikgu dah restu dan halalkan otomatik kerana kes wabak hehehe
2. Tak perlu hug sesiapa… so sesiapa yang suka hug… stop dulu, tentu Nazu paling terasa kehilangan..
3. Bila bersin atau batuk, please tutup mulut, sentiasa bawa tisu paper masing.masing
4. Jangan duduk dekat dgn kawan yg sedang selsema
5. Rehat di luar… jangan duduk dlm kelas saja sepanjang hari..duduk tepi padang ker?
6. Elak guna library yg aircond dia circulate dalam tu je, baca buku kat gazebo sahaja..
10. Sayangi diri anda dulu sebelum sayangi orang lain…

LADAP

July 24th, 2009 by cikgu shima 1 comment »

Laughter

DSC00309Why a laugh a day keeps the doctor—and the cardiologist and the psychiatrist—away

In the past decade or two, scientists have gathered evidence of laughter’s perks.

  • Laughter blunts stress and pain; hearty chuckling increases levels of the “happy” brain chemicals known as endorphins.
  • Laughter staves off black moods, which can damage heart health and increase the risk of stroke.
  • It reduces levels of cortisol, the stress hormone that’s tied to several health problems, including deposition of fat in the abdominal area, the most dangerous place for it.
  • Laughter can ease anxiety disorders, while the breast milk of mothers who laugh hard contains higher levels of melatonin, which can reduce the chances of eczema in newborns.
  • Laughter may also mitigate the damaging effects of inflammation, a process linked to heart attacks, arthritis, allergies and other conditions.
  • The progress of diabetic kidney disease may be stymied by laughter, and laughter is linked to better respiratory function in those with chronic lung disease.
  • Best of all, you burn more calories when you laugh. (This might be a good time to let go. Go ahead—take a moment or two for a big, fake guffaw.)…
